Full rewire of a 1950s North Shore home during renovation
An older weatherboard home on the North Shore is being renovated. The walls are open, and the original rubber-insulated (TRS) wiring and two-pin power points are well past their safe life.
- The challenge
- Perished insulation and unearthed circuits had to be removed entirely, the new layout had to suit a modern kitchen, heat pump and EV charger, and lifting the home's incoming power capacity meant an application to Vector.
- What we do
- We planned the circuits around the renovation, made the Vector application, removed the old cabling, and ran new wiring throughout while the walls were open. Every circuit was tested for polarity, insulation and earthing.
- The outcome
- A safe, modern, fully earthed installation with capacity for today's appliances, signed off with an Electrical Safety Certificate.
